The Social Service of Industry (Sesi) was created in 1946 in order to promote
the quality of life of workers and
their dependents. Focusing on education,
health and leisure, and stimulating the socially responsible management
of the industrial business, its actions reflect in earnings of
productivity in the Brazilian industries.
Sesi at Paraná has a wide team of professionals able to design and deliver programs, reports, training, consulting and advisory services in occupational safety and health at work. Through mobile operating units, Sesi goes to the industry, as it also offers services of medical reports remotely through telemedicine, optimizing costs. The solutions of Sesi Safety at Work involve consulting and advisory services on regulatory standards, legal compliance, environmental conditions, training and educational activities.
Sesi at Paraná performs examinations and clinical consultations that assist the identification and monitoring of diseases, aiming for the promotion and maintenance of health. These are tests that diagnose occupational diseases and promote the improvement of workers' quality of life, stimulating the development of healthier habits. Sesi solutions in Health involve occupational-clinical and specialties consultations, health and lifestyle diagnosis, medical control and occupational health programs, among others.
Sesi’s Cuide-se + is a program which aim is bringing quality of life for workers in the industry of Paraná, through prevention and education. One of the focuses of Cuide-se + is to contribute to reducing the incidence of accidents, absenteeism rates, and risks related to cancer and consumption of alcohol and other drugs, performing education for the valorization of life. The program seeks guidance on prevention through changes of habits, also conducting regular clinical examinations.
Sesi High School is the largest network of private education of Paraná, with 53 schools located in different regions of the state and more than 14 thousand students. Created in 2005 as an initiative of the Social Service of Industry, Sesi High School aims to cooperate with the social and human development through high school offer, combining education, technology and innovation.
At Sesi International High School, by experiencing a cosmopolitan environment, the students learn the high school content in an integrated way, working the disciplines altogether, and focusing on real challenges. Sesi International High School combines the peculiar method of Sesi High School education and the bilingual education. The whole experience happens in Portuguese and English, getting closer to new cultures. It is a differentiated training for future leaders, successors and entrepreneurs.
Aimed at young people and adults who were unable to complete their studies, the Youth and Adult Education provides the employees of industry the opportunity to raise their schooling. The learning can be used in different everyday relationships, inside and outside the workplace. Thus, the employees of industry develop themselves, and the industry grows together with them. The Youth and Adult Education also operates in distance mode.
Sesi Industry and Society is a great collaboration network which aims to integrate and strengthen the work of Sesi in the Paraná municipalities and the quality of life of its residents. Along with local actors, Sesi enhances the creation of a promising environment for municipalities to be the protagonists of their own development. All this happens through local capacity encouragement and cooperation.
The International Center for Local Actors Training for Latin America – CIFAL – is an international center specialized in advanced training on key issues, in order to build capacity at the local level, facilitating the exchange of best practices and promoting collaboration among government authorities, the private sector and civil society. Headquartered in Curitiba since 2003, it is an initiative of the Local Development Programme of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research - UNITAR.
The Observatory contributes to development by monitoring indicators which portray the state’s quality of life and sustainability. It is committed to providing information systems and carry out studies to support decision-making and project execution. It developed and maintains the Portal ODM, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF). The Observatory brings together social, economic and environmental indicators of the 5,565 Brazilian municipalities, which can be used by the private, the public and the third sector in carrying out their activities. The information is regularly updated and simply presented, with graphics and explanatory texts.
Developing new products, processes and services that promote health and security for industrial workers is one of the goals of Sesi at Paraná innovation projects. Some projects have a particular focus on health, as the “100% Column” Project – postural school for industrial workers; Ergoindustry: Sesi AET (Ergonomic Work Analysis); Sesi Model of Psychosocial Risk Factors; Accessible Industry, NutriAction, among others. These projects bring effective return, contributing to the industrial productivity and competitiveness. Sesi also keeps a permanent research center specialized in ageing, The Sesi Innovation Institute for Ageing and Productivity, which aim is to develop solutions for the worker of industry’s longevity.
SESI, through its area of culture, promotes access to cultura goods to industrial workers, their dependents and the community, spreading art in all its manifestations and strengthening the concepts of citizenship, diversity and the cultural plurality of Brazilian people and Paraná’s art. Currently, SESI Culture is one of the largest networks of promotion and dissemination of culture and art in Paraná, with seven cultural facilities, located in the cities of Curitiba, Londrina, Arapongas, Pato Branco and Sao José dos Pinhais. All over the state, cultural activities and artistic languages of different kinds are offered. Also, continuing education programs in the cultural area are offered to all kinds of public, including people with disabilities. SESI Culture also offers 50% discount of all its artistic programming to industrial workers and their dependents, as well as free programs to the community as a whole.
